MT-2, or Melanotan II, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of the naturally occurring alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Its molecular formula is C₅₀H₆₉N₁₅O₉, with a molecular weight of approximately 1,024 Daltons.
 
In laboratory research, MT-2 peptides are studied for their effects on melanocortin receptor activation, particularly MC1R and MC4R, which are involved in pigmentation, energy metabolism, and neuroendocrine signaling.
