KPV is a synthetic tripeptide composed of lysine, proline, and valine. It corresponds to the C-terminal amino acid sequence 11–13 of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, commonly written as α-MSH(11–13). Its molecular formula is C₁₆H₃₀N₄O₄, with a molecular weight of approximately 342.43 Daltons.
